I've been looking at some pretty cookies online, and I was wondering how people get their royal icing to look gold or silver? I do use the silver and gold dusts on fondant, but just don't get the same effect with royal icing. Any suggestions are welcome, thanks!

Are you dusting the gold and silver on or painting it? That could be the difference. More likely, they are using the same luster dusts and painting it on, rather than dusting. It shows up a lot more by painting.

Thank you, I will try painting it. I guess I was afraid the alcohol would disintegrate the royal icing!
