I have used the Butter/Vanilla pound cake recipe here on CC for a couple of cakes now....It is very sturdy and tastes good too...It is a bit greasy when it comes out of the oven because of the butter and when you cool and refridgerate it it seems very hard but once it comes to room temp..it is a very good moist cake.Great for carving my 3D Shark.

I use the Hershey's choc cake or WASC. I carve semi-frozen for more control too.

The durable cake and the durable chocolate cake for carving in the recipes section work fabulous!
