I needed to buy a 4 x 4 pan for an upcoming cake and the store where I buy all my pans only had a 4" deep pan. I was going to order a 2" deep but the were back ordered (of course) so I just bought the 4" deep.
Whats the best way to bake in it? Should I just fill it about a 1/4 full and bake two seprate cakes? I'm worried it wont bake evenly even with bake even stripes.....anyone have any advice??

I just put the same amount of batter in it that I do a 2" pan, and bake. Usually turns out fine. I have that problem with my 12" pans, the store had one 2" deep and one 4" deep, I needed them in a hurry so I got them. Been using them that way for a year now with no problems.

Thanks, I was going to use it as 2" pan to be on the safe side.
