Icing - Homemade Or Store Bought

I was wondering if you always make your own icing or buy it in buckets. If you buy it already made which brand do you use and do you doctor it up with additional flavors (almond, vanilla, etc).

I always make my own, especially to alter the flavor. I've tried other kinds and it all seems really oily to me. You also have more versatility if you make your own. I always give people options between classics like swiss meringue or imbc and what we deem as "birthday cake" icing that is confectioner sugar buttercream. hope that helps some
