would you make the cake laying down and attach fondant pieces for the neck, arms, etc?

or make a patter transfer and put him on top of a sheet cake?

or...attempt to make him stand up somehow, but i've never done a cake like that before!

If you did him laying down maybe you could cut up some PVC pipe for the neck and arms and then cover it in fondant.
