OK! After resolving my how-do-I fondant-RKT issue (ty guys!!) my bow is on my lid and cake is fondanted and gtg.

This is my first open-lid cake. Honestly, I did NOT anticipate the lid weighing so much or I'd have looked into this sooner.

Anyhow.
This lid (10" square) has candy melts, fondant, a huge bow...it's heavy. The cake is red velvet and has given me enough grief so I'm NOT messing this last detail up lol.

Do I dowel? I was thinking 2 short and 2 long so it stays open? FYI I use wooden dowels and cannot get any others atm but I doubt this changes anything.

For the record between the cake and lid I have fondant "tissue paper" hardened and ready to go and will fill in with new pieces if need be. Perhaps a couple ribbon roses..

TY!
