Hi! I'm new on forums here at cake central! But I really would apreciate your help. I was asked to make this cake covered in what I assume are petals. My first guess was to pipe them, then I thought I could make them out of gumpaste and fondant, but I don't know what kind of petals they are, if I have to make them one by one, or if I could make them all together in a row.... any ideas are welcome!!! Thank you!!!!
By the way I'm trying to attach the image but I can't... LOL!!
I can't click on the link but I am guessing the cake is something like this http://cakecentral.com/gallery/1957471/, which is really popular right now.
This looks like it has individual petals cut out. If you want to frill the edges and give them a more natural look, you will want to use a fondant/gumpaste mix. If you can find a cutter with a nice ruffled edge, that will be less work. I haven't seen one yet that would work for these cakes so I think most of them have individual hand cut ruffles.
Good luck!
If it's the cake in the link posted above here's what the decorater posted
pood says:
"Thanks so much to everyone for the compliments! The design is fluted circles laid on top of each other. I can't take credit for the design, I saw it on CC and just had to try it. I'm not sure who did the one I saw."

Hey bizatchgirl thanx for the reply!! But the petal effect im trying to achieve is not exactly like that.. I still havent been able to upload the image..
It looks something like chrysanthemum petals completely covering the cake, but they kinda stick out of it haha.. hard to explain.. Im gonna keep on trying to upload the pic. I'll let you know when when I can. thanks again!![/img]
try copy/pasting the url to the comments. Sometimes adding a link doesnt work :\\ I'm very curious to see what cake you have in mind!
The thing with the pic is that it's not a link, the wedding planner e-mailed it to me, and I saved the file!!! If you want I can send it to you, so you can see it.. just let me know!!!
Sure. My email is I jus hope it's something I can give you advice on after you've gone to so much trouble!
