Im a newbie to the cake business and I wanted to get tips on how to complete the top portion of a cake gift box covered in fondant... I have attached a pic 2 hopefully give more of a visual to what i mean... in short i guess i want to know how to make the top part of the box look as if it is overlapping the bottom part of the box.

Well being that your pic didn't load (I have yet to get one loaded from the forums) your description is enough. Most of the gift boxes I have seen have either a faux lid made from styrofoam or rice cereal treats. hth
Ps. If you ever figure how to load a pic let me know!

Sugarshack has a great DVD called Boxes and Bows. She gives a bunch of different methods on how to achieve that look. Google Sugar Ed Productions for the site. All of her DVD's are great!
