You Have Got To Look At Cake Wrecks Today

wow.... so sorry for those brides and their guests. Do people really hire 12 year olds to do their most special cake?
LOL, the "I will love you three days past forever" entry looks like my handwriting (which is why I would never, ever, ever agree to replicating it)!
I love cakewrecks, but when they put the wedding wrecks it breaks my heart.
Why, because the bride got what she paid for?
Jason, it breaks my heart because I paid 4 times for my wedding cake what I paid for my cake and I want everyone to be as crazy about cakes as me. lol
When I look at pictures like these I just think that who the heck knows if some of these brides actually paid good money for their cakes and got robbed by these idiot wreckers. I know of at least 2 cases where people go into a website or a facebook page and there are wonderfully gorgeous cakes (made by other decorators) but the client is never told that. They are told yeah, this is my work. See how great I am?
That's what's heartbreaking. If you're going to be cheap then YES you get what you paid for, but if people lie to a client and they pay good money based on pictures and lies then it is sad that they get duped.
Oh, I just snorted diet coke out my nose.
Hope they were serving strong drink at those receptions, those brides probably needed them.
Lets just hope they did not pay for those cakes, but that a friend or family member made them a cake for the big day... We can only hope anyway!

Unfortunately I think they DID pay for the cakes because the site is only supposed to show "professional" cakes. Although I don't know how they police that.
You know its bad when my 4 year old is looking at the cakes with me and says.... "Mom, that cake sure looks funny". Ha!
The wedding wrecks are my favorites. Perfect for showing to brides and explaining why you have to hire someone experienced.
This needs to be posted on the bride forums under the topic "you get what you pay for".

Exactly. Plus I might be a seriously insensitive person, but that site is Hilarious!! I read it every day. ESPECIALLY when I've been working on some life-force-leeching cake project. Did you see the Presidents day one below that post? OMG! I could NOT believe the sign with all the misspellings
Cake Wrecks gives me a reason to get up every day. The wedding wrecks are my favorite, but I always hope that the bride is a lady with a great sense of humor......
Oh, that just made my freaking day!!! I am laughing still! I mean they are all awful! You have to believe that a family member did them. I am no expert, by far. But I wouldn't even have tried some of those. I know my own limits and stress that. That is why I am still just practicing!
I have heard some horror stories from my days on the bridal forums when I was planning my own wedding. Paying a fortune and getting something like what was seen on wrecks. There is a decorator close to me that operate illegally out of her home and uses photos of other professionals for her cakes and claims that she can do that. Then a handful of photos of her own work.
The majority of people do not realize that a decorator is using someone elses photos. When I shopped for cake decorators way back when, a lot of them had photos from magazines in their portfolios and said, "I can do that" and you just trusted that they could.
I would have cried if any of those disasters showed up on my wedding day (although the second one didn't seem too horrible compared to the rest) but if I didn't pay a fortune I'd definitely have no right to be upset.
I love cake wrecks though, the descriptions always crack me up. The photoshop post was one of my favorites.
