A friend wants a cake shaped like a ring box from Tiffanys. She prefers it to be iced in BC (fondant accents are okay). She wants the box "closed" or "lid on top". How would you suggest the top lid to be done so it's not just a square iced, smooth sided cake? Just put a ribbon of fondant around the top for the dimensional feel? I've not done a box shaped cake before. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it!
My very first cake was a buttercream Tiffany box cake. It's in my photos. I used the ribbon of fondant around the top to make the lid, however if I had it to do again, I think I would just layer extra icing on the top and around the top's sides to make it look like a lid...making sure it was very straight of course. Maybe even take a straight edge and indent. Good luck!
