I see lots of cakes with little fondant shapes on wires sticking out of the cakes. What type of wire do I use? I read that floral wires are not food safe. Also, where do I buy them?

I was wondering this myself. Was trying to look it up. So far I found that you use straws to stick in the cake and than put the wire down in that. Not sure though. I'm making one now. But not sure how thick of a wire you use.

I bought wires for this purpose at Michael's in the cake decorating aisle. I think there were 4 in a pack for about $5. It wasn't florist wire though.
