I am new to the wedding cake side of things.

My bride is asking about having fresh flowers on the cake and if I work with a particular florist. Being new I have not worked with a florist. My thought is that I just find out who the florist is she is going with and talk to them directly. Arrange to have the flowers ready when I deliver the cake and I be the one who places them on the cake.

For those of you who have done this am I on track or is there a better way to go?
TIA

There are horror stories on here about what happens when florists get their hands on a cake...

I design flowers parttime. Yes Yes Yes! talk to the florist directly. More mistakes have happened because of the lack of communication. Make all arrangements with the florist ahead of time. Even better if after the meeting you send an email to the bride and the florist so that everyone is on the same page any misunderstandings can be cleared up ahead of time. hth
