I want to make a lighthouse cake topper but I am stumped. I want it to be about 8" tall, maybe making a cylinder out of rkt and covering with fondant/gumpaste.
Where I'm getting stumped is the top of the lighthouse. The glass/lenses and the rails around the top.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
tokazodo

You can make glass out of gelatine, same procedure as for gelatin flowers or butterflies, make a thick gelatin, smear it on a flat surface and when completely dry, cut to size. If you can get hold of a small LED you could even make the lighthouse light up.

Railing, make out of pastillage or gumpaste, just give it plenty of time to dry

I made glass windows for my gingerbread house from melting yellow and red candies together on a sheet of foil then when cooled somewhat, i scored the 'glass' sheet so it would snap easily into the panels sizes i needed. Not sure if its plausible though on top of a round tower
