this is a pretty basic question but I always seem to have troblem when I am making fondant shapes. when I try to pick them up they alway stretch and get mis shapen and when I try to cut the pieces out with an extco knife I always get little drag/pull marks along the edges.

Any ideas of what I am doing wrong and how I can fix it.

Try mixing some tylose powder into the fondant. It makes the fondant less stretchy so it holds its shape. If you can't find tylose, you can add some of Wilton's gumtex. HTH

Let them dry a little bit before picking them up. For the Exacto, use an up and down motion instead of dragging it through the fondant.
