Crusting Buttercream Under Fondant?

Do any of you use a crusting buttercream under fondant. I imagine it would give a super smooth surface to put the fondant on. But if its not sticky like non crusting buttercream how will the fondant adhere and if you brush it with water wont that give you a ton of air bubbles?

Thats the only buttercream I use, what I do is brush the fontant with a little with of water and it sticks beautifully

I use crusting buttercream and have had no problems.
