Does anyone have a current list of states that allow home based baking businesses? A search is only pulling up 2008 information. I'm specifically looking for WA and ID. Much appreciated if anyone has any information.

Thank you!

If home based food processing is allowed, it's almost always regulated by the state's Department of Agriculture and Markets. Search their websites. Typically, county departments of health will not allow home food businesses.

Good luck, Mimi

The information is still current for Washington and Idaho. Neither one of them have cottage food laws on the books, to my knowledge.

I can't speak for ID, but here in WA we have a Cottage Food Law bill that is in process right now. So far it's looking really good, but you never know. You can check the status of it here: http://apps.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/summary.aspx?bill=5748&year=2011#history
