Since I am fairly new to cake decorating. I'm just curious. Who are the top cake decorators/sugar artists? The creme de la creme. I have heard a few names and read a few books. One of them being Toba Garrett. The other Collete Peters. I have also watched the Cake Challenge from time to time. I'm just curious as to who are some of the others. Do they do demonstrations at ICES from some of the top sugar artists?

That question is like asking what is your favorite color. You are going to get a bunch of different answers, from different people. I think the list would have to include Kerry Vincent and my favorite Bronwen Webber. But there are so many, many more!!! icon_biggrin.gif

If you are new to cake decorating you can stick closer to home for your "best" Just learn from Indydebi, SugarShack and Melvira among many, many others here on cc.
I am a book freak and have looked at the published works of most of the cake artists listed above. Beautiful, awesome. But when it comes to learning the basic skills, I have found for a beginner the posters here are easier to learn from. And they always answer questions and give a lot of encouragement you don't get from the celebrities. - just sayin'

The folks I admire include (but not limited to) Anne Heap of Pink Cake Box and I think Norm Davis is top notch! Kerry Vincent will always be a favorite of mine simply because she takes such pride in, not only her own work, but in the industry as a whole and works to set the bar high for all of us! thumbs_up.gif

On here, the ones on my list of "I want to be like them when I grow up" include (but not limited to) Edna, Sugar Shack, leah_s, costumeczar, bobwunderbuns, Thahn Thahn and I'm sure I'll remember 27 more as soon as I hit "submit"! thumbs_up.gif
