What medium do you use to make your figurines out of? I am suppose to make a monkey for a banana cake but the last time I did this the monkeys arm kept comming off or they would break at the "elbow joint" I am really struggling with this and it's stressing me out. I do not want this monkey to come off the cake this time and break before I get it delivered!!! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I make my figurines out of 50/50 gumpaste and fondant mix. Since I work full time and do cakes on the side, I usually make them a week ahead of time so they have plenty of time to dry. Just be sure to support any of the more vulnerable areas until they are completely dry. Good luck!

I use straight gumpaste. Are you making one solid piece, or separate pieces? You can glue pieces together with glue made from the gumpaste or 50/50 mix disolved in water, or use toothpicks to anchor pieces. And make sure you give them ample drying time.
