Freezing Cakes??

I have to make 6 1/2 sheet cakes for a wedding and wa wondering if anyone has frozen their cakes. I have heard people freeze them, and wait until the cake is thawed before they decorate them- I am just going to frost with BC and no decorations- can you please share your thoughts and ideas-

i freeze mine. when i get ready to work on them i put the filling on still frozen then crumb coat and freeze again for a short time then once the final buttercream coat is on i leave to sit out. if i'm doing fondant i let it come to full room temp before applying fondant to it
