Printed Image Or Edible Image Stand Up On Cake?

how do I get a printed image to stand on cake. Im trying to have a picture of a dinosaur stand on the cake. Not sure if I should place image on gumpaste and if so, should it be thin or thick to stand up..not sure what I should do?

I roll out gumpaste or enhanced fondant and place the EI on it. Then using a razor cut out around it. Let dry.
If you need a stick to stand it use a skewer or lolly stick and white chocolate. Use the chocolate to glue to stick.
