This sounds dumb, but I'm making a practice cake for a party on Sat--and I normally use store bought icing, but this time I didnt! How do I thickin up bc? I know to thin I can add water or milk--to thickn do I add some powdered sugar or what?????

Please help and thanks a ton icon_smile.gif

Yes, just add powdered sugar until you reach the consistency you want.

that wasnt a stupid question, or a stupid thing to do....I dont know many decorators that dont at least make one practice cake before the actual cake to be given! You did the right thing.

And yes powdered sugar will thicken it, but I was wondering what recipe you used that may be too thin?

Thanks flayvurdfun---

I actually have a couple recipes from some people I've meant on here--I believe it's a butter and crisco recipe---I also have a comtainer of store bought wilton decorator icing....I was thinking of just using the store bought one I have and thicken that up, since the last time I used it my bc was melting....
