would like to make drapes for cake out of sugarveil. Could use all the help I can get, like, how to make them uniform in thickness or any other suggestions to make my cake pretty. Thanks and keep up the good work!!

Hi Sugaah,

Here are a few pointers: Grease your silicone mat with Crisco, use as wide a spreading tool you can find, and if you are working in very dry, furnace-treated air, you might benefit from mixing SugarVeil with the beater attachment for a full 10 minutes rather than the regular 4 minutes. Use your thumbnail to make a clean path around all four edges after spreading (this makes a 'handle' to pick up the sheet), and store the sheets when set between parchment sheets in a Ziploc bag (you call even roll them up, if you like).

Other resources for info: http://www.sugarveil.com, http://www.youtube.com/sugarveil, and http://www.facebook.com/sugarveil as well as emailing us at [email protected]. Check you local hardware store for a spreading tool, or see our 12" wide Confectioners' Spreader here: http://www.sugarveil.com/mat/index.htm.

Please let me know if I can help you with any questions you might have along the way. Thanks much, Michele Hester
