I Did It! I Finally Quit My 'real Job'!

Had to celebrate somewhere... lol.. and finally, I was able to quit my real job to work 100% of the time on my own business!
I was working on opening up for over two years, with a lot of ups and downs.. and I have to say, every day is different and every day I love it!
I spent 6 months working 80-100+ hours at my shop, and 20+ hrs a week at my real job, and let me tell you... there were weekends when I napped in my car whenever I could because I wasn't going home... 9-? say 11pm at my shop, then nap and 1-8:45 at work, then 9-?10pm at my shop, then a 3 hour nap. then back to work at the real job, and on and on... UGH. It's been two weeks of going to bed each night, and getting up at the same time each morning and WOW... my energy level and brain function have increased, it's been 14 years of double shifts and I can't remember ever feeling this good LOL!
I even have time for FUN stuff now, haha... like bookkeeping and recipe hunting and recipe playing! and CAKE CENTRAL!!! I'm BACK!!
Say enough prayers and God sends you an apprentice!! I deliver desserts to a local restaurant and one of the ladies was trying to get her son an apprenticeship as a baker, so we worked it out that until I can pay him, he doesn't have to pay rent at home! Free help 4 days a week!!! AMAZING!
I even have interns!!! Who woulda thunk that they would send interns to a three month old business???? Well, the vocational technical school was over the moon happy to send me interns!! FREE help 3-4 days a week for 3-4 hours a day!
I don't even know how I did it before I had all those helpers, and through the holidays, I would have been SUNK without them!
With all that said, it's not that it hasn't had it's challenges... broken cases, busted freezers, the mixer choked and gave up, my oven screamed mercy before it died... and I still can't pay myself... somehow it all works out!
Just wanted to toot my own horn with people who could celebrate with me!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm walking a very similar path right now...no social life, I live in the kitchen, and a paycheck...what is that?!?!
At the end of the day God is good and I can go from there...with His help of course.
I wish to you all the best of luck...and to one day having a full nights sleep (I'll even go a step futher and say a "vacation day"!)
Wow! That is awesome.. I pray that I too will walk away from my 9-5 to persue my dreams. Congratulations!!
Congrats!!!! I love the fact you are celebrating the realness of owing your own business & all the troubles, but still loving it!
Congratulations!!! Thank you for sharing your story. It gives the rest of us hope. God always answers prayers. Ask and you shall recieve...
congratulations. Your hard work and effort are paying off. I took a peek at your gallery and your cakes are beautiful. Keep up the good work and keep paying it forward!
Congratulations! Praying God's blessings over your new business adventure!
That is my dream...but thinking it is a year or two down the road!!
You have worked so hard to get where you are, I wish you all the very best in all aspects of your life!
Good for you! Isn't it amazing how hard working people get so lucky! Maybe it's not luck after all.
thanks for sharing your story. It gives me hope.
all the best and may God continue to shine his face on you.
Congratulations! I feel your joy radiating just from reading your words. Keep following your dreams. It sure encourages those of us that are still working towards starting our own cake business. Good Luck.
I don't remember who said this, but it always stuck with me: "Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life."
Congratulations!
that's a sweet deal! sounds like your hard work is paying off. congrats! and i share your pain about machinery breakdowns (i don't have a bakery, but do have a store). look on the bright side of that ~ once fixed or replaced, you shouldn't have to worry about them for a long time.
wouldn't it be nice to have a vacation day?
congratulations on the business and free help. very happy that you are getting rest, you dont want to burn yourself out. enjoy the sleep and may you bake bake bake and enjoy every minute of it.
Congratulations. So very happy for you!
