I remember reading that if you mix vodka with something and then spray it on fondant or gumpaste, it will give it some sheen...I need to know what that "something" is.

I have heard of using corn syrup but I have never tried it. Sorry I couldn't be more help!

You can mix vodka and gel colors to get a sheen. Also you can mix vodka and luster dust. I wouldn't spray it onto the fondant unless you've got an airbrush. A squirt bottle is not going to give it an even coat. Instead, use a paintbrush to apply the vodka mixture.

also, I only heard of adding vodka when using powdered colors, not for achieving a sheen. It's a quick dryer when using it to paint.

You can also use a clothes steamer to get a sheen on fondant.

I have used 50/50 vodka and corn syrup. Brush on and it dries to hard clear shine.
