I will be putting flowers and a lot of edible crystals on a fondant covered cake? Is there an edible glue recipe or is Royal Icing the choice for this? I have used piping gel in the past to put pearls on and it would probably work for the crystals, but not sure it would hold the flowers.

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Vicki

Small/tiny things will usually just stick on with a little water. If I am sticking bigger flowers/decorations onto the sides of a cake I would use something stronger than piping gel, probably royal icing as I find it sets quicker than sugar glue. You can also use balls of fondant, moistened with a little water, if your decorations will hide them. Someone else with more knowledge may want to speak up here with some suggestions for you - I'm not an expert!

I think Lorraine McKay has a youtube clip you might be able to find which shows how to make edible glue out of *I think* tylose (or cellogen) and water. I'll have a quick look for it and post the link if I can find it.
