I'm making a cake for my friends 40th birthday and the theme is "bling it on" so I want to have a cake with some kind of gems/crystals. Can i do this? Is there such a thing as edible gems? Can I buy them somewhere? Where? icon_smile.gif

I did thing about making them like the beer bottles are made from sugar but it sounds like a lot of work and I don't know howit will work out.

Can anyone help please?

Thank you

You can make or buy them. To buy them, Google "sugar gems", they even make some that look like diamonds. They can be hard to make. You use sugar or isomalt to heat sugar to the ard candy stage and pour them into gemstone molds.

These are excellent. Be sure to oil them for lasting shine.
