I got a kitchen aid 6 qt pro mixer for Christmas and used it for the first time, the motor sounds strange to me. My 4.5 qt. doesn't make the same sound, the motor sounds consistant. The sound of my new mixer at high speed, changes sounds, is that normal. Its like you are changing the speed, and i'm not touching it. Just wondering if I should take it back, or is this normal, couldn't find anything about it in the manual.

I'd call KA and report that one. I've heard it before on random mixers. I always think it's a sign it's on it's way out. I'm not sure why I even think that but it's not normal operating standard.

Take it back. There are lots of problems with Kitchen Aids speed sensors failing lately.

You're lucky is under warranty still.
