Found this amazing cake on GIMME SOME SUGAR in Las Vegas
How do you think they did this ruffle effect?
Strips of fondant- paint the stripes- ruffle it- then apply on cake?
I sssoooo want to do this!

Check out Satin Ice fondant tutorials, I think Collette Peters does a demo. She is just one of my favorite cake decorators. HTH

I would add tylose powder and ruffle it the same as I would if I were going to sew ruffles....just make sodt pleats,,hope that helps

Looking really closly at the picture, I think the stripes were painted on and then ruffled, but not really sure.

while I haven't done this before I have seen it on some other cakes and think it is so fun, young and fresh!!!

I have a sweet 16 coming up that I might have to try it on!
