Okay, so I know this is a little off base, but I figure that most human bakers enjoy baking for their pets as well. I'm doing a fundraiser for the humane society, in which myself and some of the other volunteers are baking dog biscuits. I have a couple of recipes, but I'm looking for a dog biscuit that will last a long time at room temperature. Any suggestions?

I've kept these for a long time in ziploc bags with no problem.

3 cus whole wheat flour
1 tsp garlic salt
1/2 cup bacon fat
1 cup shredded cheese (any kind, I ususally use cheddar)
1 egg, lightly beaen
1 cup milk

Place flour and garlic salt in large bowl; stir in bacon fat and add cheese and egg. Gradually add enough milk to form a dough.Knead dough and toll out to about 1/2" thick. Usecookie cutters to cut out desired shapes.Bake on greased cookie shee at 400 for 10-12 minutes until lightly browned.

I once made these for my coworkers with dogs and one person actually ate one before I could stop him and he said they were pretty good icon_smile.gif. Whenever DH makes bacon, we put some of the fat in the freezer so I can make these whenever the mood strikes. I'd like to find a dog friendly decorative icing to dress them up.
