I am making Petit Fours, and I am wondering should I crumb coat them before applying the poured fondant? I'm worried that the butter cream might melt. But I don't want crumbs on the cake.

I always apply a thin layer of butter cream to my sheet cake, put in freezer for about an hour, then cut my pt4's (1 1/2 x 1 1/2) put them side by side on grid and pour my pt4 icing. BC does not melt off. I'm one of the few that love doing pt4's. Do them often.
