Does anyone know how to make the slivered almonds they use to coat cakes in a bakery? Are they sugar coated or toasted?

You can buy them at the grocery store in the baking isles & they are just a raw nut. Not toasted or candied. Depends on what you are using them on as to whether they would need to be toasted. I have used them plain on an Amaretto cake.

I have had a request for a whipped cream frosting and the almonds they use to coat cakes in a bakery. I may take a run to a bakery and do a little taste testing.
