I got a request for a cake this week... for a combined birthday... one person is 35 the other is 40....

I was all set to do a cake with a Grim Reaper calling out the 40 year old... and hinting to the 35 year old that they are next!

I jsut got word that they dont want to do that theme... and im out of ideas!!!

All i know is they want red... and black... and at the very least just something saying happy birthday to the 2....

I for the most part have creative reign.... but i think they want something light in theme....

Can you help with ideas so that it doesnt look like just a a plain 9in round & words!?!

Thanks!!!!

Both people that age have experience with Pac-Man & tie dye & peace signs....

A Geritol bottle or box would be cute for both of them.

could you maybe do something with just a strong pattern like this:

but in maybe a 2 tier and then add a few gumpaste things they do as hobbies? Good luck~!

Hmmm, thinking I saw a cake on the site of a round cake with road around the edge of it going down in a swirl to the bottom of the cake. The 45 could be going down first and say to the 35 "hang on for the ride downhill" or something like that.

I like the Hollywood theme:

And you can make the 35 & 40 in the style of the Hollywood letters.

Otherwise, I just googled Black, White & Red Cakes and there are a ton of ideas - you can choose something you know you are capable of replicating:

Good luck!!
