Ok I'm trying to come up with a design for a murder mystery birthday party for a 25 year old woman. She just wants a small cake for herself, since desserts will be included with the party package she purchased. She wants purple and gold and have something on it to incorporate the party theme. HMMMM....any suggestions cakers?

What about an inscription like

WhoDunIt? 'Betty' 25 years ago today!

...maybe with a Sherlock Holmes type hat or magnifying glass.

Or incorporate the exact murder mystery setting she's going to in the way of a mm book or dvd or newspaper headline.

Thank you for the help. I think the magnifying glass is a cute idea, how would you go about making the glass part?

To make the glass, try melting sugar and pouring it into a round mold. Be careful, tho, it will burn you badly!!

Good idea. Or you could just paint some fondant with silver luster dust.
