i'm making a cake for my brother's birthday tomorrow and i was just going to make a simple cake because i wasn't able to start until 8 today. He said he wanted chocolate, but i wanted to do something a little different so i decided to attempt a 3 layer chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and raspberries in the middle. there were no fresh raspberries at the store so i bought canned ones but i don't like the way they look or taste and now i have no clue what to do.
any ideas for what i should use instead of raspberries so i don't just have a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting?
thanks! icon_smile.gif

Caramel and roasted walnuts as a filling for chocolate it's great
Chocolate mousse is good too
Frozen fruits might work better than canned

Banana cream or carmelized bananas ~ with or without pecans ~ go well with chocolate.

If you want raspberry filling, why not use raspberry jam?

Nutella goes great with chocolate as well.
