I need to make 4 cups of practice icing. NOT for decorating a cake, PRACTICE. Only problem is.......... I have absolutely NO confectioner's sugar. Yeah.... I am so stupid. I have been reading that you can make your own??

One cup sugar with 1 tbs corstarch and blend until smooth????

Shall I try? I REALLY need to practice today, and there is NO way I will be able to get pwd. sugar before Sunday.

Please help me asap! Thanks!

Yes, granulated sugar in the blender makes powdered sugar! My sister taught me this in 1978 when I volunteered to make her birthday cake at her house and we ran out of PS!

Wilton has a recipe for boiled icing. I don't know it off hand but it uses regular granulated sugar. We used it at the Wilton school for all our practice work. It does not need to be refrigerated. You can find it on their website www.wilton.com .
