Ok so This may be in the wrong spot. I always post to the wrong forum.

I have been noticing that my cakes never have as big of an edge as other peoples.

Case in point this cake is a 10, 8 6 inch cake. And there is plenty of room on the edge to place the figures.

This cake, one of mine. Does not have as much of an edge between the layers.

Am I doing something wrong? Are people trimming their cakes to get a bigger edge? If so how do you do it evenly?

Any suggestions would be great. I am planning on making that Toy Story cake this weekend and as it stands now there isn't enough room for the figures.

Am I missing the first link?

Anyway, for a good ledge try going with a three inch difference and the same with your cake board. It gives plenty of room. Depending on how many servings you need I would have gone with a 12, 9, & 6. Or if that is not do-able then set all the cakes back so they align and have a big front and small sides without a ledge in the back. HTH
