Hi, so Im doing a cake that is 3 tiered and on the middle tier I would like to have a design cut out and color behind it. I just wanted to check and see how yall think I should do this. What I was planning was to cover the tier in black fondant (as thats the color I want to show through) and then layer it again with white fondant. then use the design stencil I made to cut out the white and peel it away. Is that right or is there a better way to do this? Also any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

Seems like a lot of fondant. But if you want the design recessed, it's probably the only way to do it.
You can use the fondant inlay technique if you're not concerned as much about having the recessed look.
Have fun!
