Ball Pan, How Do I Make It Stand?

I am going to make a tea pot. Once it is baked and I go to decorate it, do I just take a slicce out of the bottom? Will it transport easy?

That's what I have done, just a slice off the bottom, a dap of buttercream and it was good to go.
