Ok. I am making a cake for a baby shower. I have been read a lot but not sure exactly what the right steps are:
Bake cake let cool then wrap and freeze- then what? I have to carve the cake, when do i crumb coat it? when do I split the cake and BC it? Do I refreeze it? How long do I have what til I can put the fondant on? How early can I get the cake done? If the shower is sunday. Sorry lots of questions, please help...

This is what I do ...

Bake on Thursday if due on Saturday
let cool 10 minutes ,turn out of pan
wrap with suran wrap
Let set out until the next day ( Friday)
Unwrap Friday morning and tort and fill with BC
let cake settle for about 8 hours
Ice and decorate Friday evening .

Ive never had to freeze to carve icon_smile.gif

Hope this helps , Everyone has their own method though.
