Can you color and pipe cream cheese frosting like you can buttercream icing?
Are there any problems or suggestions you may have.
I want to make a Spiced Pumpkin Cake filled with Cream cheese icing and carve into a pumpkin then cover/ice in orange colored cream cheese icing.
It's for someone who doesn't like fondant and prefers creamcheese icing.
Thanks!

Yes, you can color cr cheese icing. I just made some deep burnt orange and brown. The brown looked just like choc icing. I have had great experience with cr cheese icing recipe with some shortening. It is twice the butter to shortening ratio and pipes great and crusts and handles great and tastes fabulous. I think some of the problem others have with cr cheese icing is that they don't add enough powdered sugar and end up with it soft.

This recipe pipes, crusts, colors, and sets up beautifully:

I use it all the time. Oh, and it's delicious!
