I plan on making this cake for my sister as a surprise for her 30th Birthday. She loves anything to do with fashion so I thought this cake would be perfect for her. I am also thinking about making the shoe box a little smaller so I can fit a gucci bag next to it. Do you have any tips on how to make the shoe box cake and the shoe? I am assuming the shoe is made out of gumpaste correct? How do you keep it from cracking and how do you get it to keep its form while drying? Thanks in advance!

The shoebox can be any size you want but it should be in proportion to the actual gumpaste shoe. There are gumpaste shoe kits made by JEM and Steven Benison and you just cut the shoe and dry it on the special dryer which is a plastic former. You have to glue the heel and other pieces on but it makes a nice shoe. The Steven Benison kit is expensive though..The JEM one is cheper but not as nice IMO....Each can be purchased at numerous online cake decorating stores like Global sugar art .

I used this tutorial when I made mine. I made it when I first started doing cakes so I had a few minor difficulties. If I do it again, it will be much easier I'm sure. This is a great tutorial though.
