What is the purpose of dream whip in icing recipes? I made it with it for the first time a couple of days and really can't tell a difference. Thanks

Good question. The only thing I can think of is it is a stabilizer much like corn starch or flour or meringue powder only it tastes better. That and it has hydrogenated fat In it, so it will replace what has been taken out of crisco.

I use it in my BC. It's more of a taste thing, I think? I like it in there.

hummm, ok thanks all! It did taste a little different but I had also put almond extract in it and thought that was what I was tasting. I didn't like the taste. I didn't really like the taste. I guess I will have to make it with the dream whip and with out the almond to see if that was what I was tasting or not. THanks so much!!
