to make the cake moist - what kind of cake do you use it on? I scratch bake, could I use it for any cake including yellow, peanut butter, strawberry etc. or it's only to use on the sponge cake type recipes? Thanks in advance guys.

I use simple syrup on all of them. If I make an amaretto cake, I use amaretto as the added syrup flavoring, white I use almond, yellow I use butter, chocolate I use vanilla. Love to mix and match. Works well with all.

Thanks Malakin. Did you mean you brush with melted butter for the yellow cake instead of syrup?

There is butter flavoring. I've tried from different brands, the one I like best is from Parrish. (Also known as MagicChef)

And its called Butter Vanilla.

Definately do, I bought Wilton's Butter Vanilla in an emergency and was not happy with the taste.
