I am making a grooms cake for my cousins wedding, which is 2 hours from here. It will be a 3D tractor cake covered in fondant, and it will be delivered around 11am, and the reception is not till 6pm. Should this cake be refrigerated? There is no special filling. Just chocolate cake and buttercream covered in fondant.

Doesn't need to be in fridge.

Agree with Shelly there's no need, will furthermore say that if you refrigerate must remember fondant will be affected by change of temperature/humidity when taking it out and will become kinda sticky and shiny.

I don't think it needs to be in the fridge, however if you deliver it cold you may have better results due to the heat.

I would only because it firms things up and helps during delivery. I always refrigerate my cakes before delivery.
