Hi- My sister is a HUGE Dodgers fan, and I thought it would be cute to make her a baseball cap cake for her birthday this year. Minor detail--I've never made one before. lol Do you use half of the small ball pan? Is there a brim template somewhere? I tried to search, but just found lots of pics of caps. I appreciate any help. Thanx!

I used a small bowl for the cake and for the brim, I cut gumpaste to fit a standard brim and then laid it over the brim of an actual hat with plastic wrap in between to form the shape until it dried. It was really one of the simplest, most satisfying cakes that I've made.

I carved 2 9 inch rounds for the cap I made.

I have one in my pics. I used half of a ball pan and a 6 inch round under that. For the brim I used a real baseball cap and traced it onto card stock and used that as a template. hth

Like the others, I recommend using a real brim of a hat - I did in the past and it worked wonderful!
