Hello everyone,

I am hoping you can help, i need to make a retirement cake for a friend at work. Her gift is going to be a gift certificate for a hot air balloon ride and they want her cake to match it. I want to do a fondant hot air balloon as the cake topper but, i have no clue how to start. can anyone help????

How about this...

Drape a piece of fondant over a styrofoam ball. Place the ball on top of a narrow bottle and shape the fondant around the bottle. You may have to make a cut so you can overlap the fondant to make the bottom narrower.

When dry, slide the bottle out.

Glue some lollipop sticks to the inside of the balloon.

Insert the sticks into a basket made of fondant. You'll want to pre-poke the holes for this so you don't have to force it down and risk damaging the balloon.
