Hi, I have to make a Birthday cake with an Amazing race theme, they would like a globe on top of it. It will be a 2 tier cake with the ball on top.
My question is, how sturdy is this cake, I am going to put fondant on the globe. The Wilton pan isn't too big so I think it should be ok. Also how do you think I should support the globe on top? Any help with tis would be greatly appreciated. Thanks thumbs_up.gif

I would drive a dowel rod down through the globe after you have gotten it on top of the second tier. That will hold it on so it doesn't roll off.

Thanks for your response, I have never done that before and I am a bit nervous, do you put the dowel right through all the layers? Also this may be stupid but how would it go through the cake boards icon_biggrin.gif

Yes...right down through them all so you will have to use cardbaord instead of plastic seperaters. You sharpen the end like a pencil so it will poke through the cardbaords..use a small hammer to do this...
