Help! I am making a wedding cake, my first, and we got the mmf on the cake and there are folds and creases where there were extra gatherings of mmf! Any ideas on how to get it out? Water? Crisco?

Also there is an area of a dry patch!

I haven't piped it yet, i want to get these yucky areas out first...any suggestions!?

Thanks!

I don't know of how to get rid of dry areas, but I would suggest working your design to cover these areas, if possible...maybe a flower, or the piping will cover it...
Where are the folds/creases? Along the bottom where you trimmed? If so, you can cover that with a border, and also next time, put something under the cake that is smaller than the tier so the fondant hangs straight before trimming it. Don't know if that's your problem, but hopefully that helps.
I heard once that a good cake decorator doesn't make a perfect cake, but rather knows how to hide its flaws.... icon_smile.gif
