I need a side scraper. Plastic ones are much cheaper but I'd like to know if anyone thinks it's really worth buying the more expensive stainless steel ones.

Thanks x

I've used a metal 'bench scraper' and what I like about it is that it doesn't give or move like spatulas do. I haven't really used the plastic ones so I can't compare it to that.

You can get one dirt cheap at Bed, Bath & Beyond... it's called a Bash 'n Chop.

I have several - my favorite is from Ateco - purchased it at ICES in Chicago. I like it because the handle part is even with the blade and it has a "hole" that makes it easier for me to grip. My plastic ones aren't stiff enough.

I like my metal one. I had a plastic one before, but I just think the metal edge is easier to get a smoother finish on the icing. IMO.
