Hi
I have 2 questtions: 1.How many cake box mixes will make a 11x15 sheet cake? 2.Is there a conversion chart for cake recipes when you are making larger cakes?
Thanks

the Wilton chart says how many cups of batter are needed based on pan size. Each un-doctored box mix yields between 4 and 6 cups of batter.

As far as a conversion chart, I've never used one. If i double a recipe I just write the conversion in the margin, but I'm sure if you search online you could find something.

I use 2 betty crocker mixes for my 11x15. Different brands have different yields, so watch out for that.

I use 3 box mixes with Pillsburry...I like my cake nice and high when I'm doing one layer.

If you're doctoring/extending your mixes it takes 1 1/2 mixes for an 11x15 or use 2 and get 1 dozen cupcakes too.

I also use 2 cake mixes, but use Duncan Hines. Also because I have so many cake pans, I write the suggested amount of batter, and baking temperature on the bottom of each pan with a permanent marker. Hope this helps! icon_smile.gif

I use 3 Duncan Hines mixes; but I can also get some cupcakes out of it as well. I've used 2 mixes in the past, but I prefer the 11x15 to be a little taller.

I found that 2 box mixes work put I will use 3 for a taller cake. Thanks a bunch. Also I like the idea of writing on the bottom of the cake pans as a reminder of how many cake mixes to use.
